Many of you must be aware of what had happened at AWARE, an almost 100% change of ex-co members and leadership, voted into power by members that have only joined recently. Is Ms Lau, the new president, fit for the task? Is she being truthful to the press and in her statements?
Are you aware, that regardless of educated or uneducated, “aunties” or “ah sohs” in Singapore are one of the most aggressive around, perhaps on par with the Honey Badger, an animal whose reason for existence is solely to hunt.
I think that Ms Lau is a completely failure as a leader. As a leader, you inspire. If you want to to be the president of an organisation, you reach out to existing members, people that are the very foundation of the organisation of which you wish to lead, to slowly win their support. But I guess, Ms Lau is a result orientatedand hasty person who has probability eaten too much instant noodles. In fact, she has probably eaten more instant noodle than the amount of rice I had eaten. The concept of “INSTANT” is deep in her mind. “I want to be the president of AWARE. I want it instant.” Whee!
And thus poof! Coincidently, there is a sudden increase in membership within a shop period of time. Coincidently, almost all these new members voted for her, and replaced the ex-co with new people. We are not dumb enough to think there is no relationship in these events, but not stupid enough to claim there is a relationship in these events. Aunties can be aggressive, remember?
But how contradictory can the new Exco get?
The issue about homosexuality and religion….
Some newspaper reports have claimed that Ms Lau and at least five other members are part of a church that adopts a strong stance against homosexuality. But Ms Lau stressed the Exco “was not there to push our personal religious affiliations”.
…or is it…
The new exco said AWARE had become a single purpose organisation overly concerned with promoting lesbianism.
They repeatedly raised examples, like how the old guard had backed a lesbian film screening in 2007 and organised a lesbian-friendly Mother’s Day event in 2006. And they wanted to bring the association back to what they say is its original noble cause.
And
Cyberspace has been abuzz with rumours about the religious and allegedly anti-gay views of the new Exco members. It has also been reported that some of them, including honorary secretary Jenica Chua, as well as Dr Chin have written to the media about homosexuality.
Ms Chua had written in October 2007 about Non-nominated Member of Parliament Siew Kum Hong petitioning to repeal Section 377A of the Penal Code which criminalises homosexual sex between consenting men.

Ms Lau is a reluctant leader?
While the leadership tussle is unlikely to go away anytime soon, Ms Lau remains undeterred — despite the fact she is a reluctant leader. She revealed on Channel NewsAsia’s Talking Point yesterday that she took the post after everyone else turned it down.
Ah haha stop pretending already. Even death threats against your own fresh and blood won’t make you give up the post.
“Each day, I fear for the physical safety of my children, my family. There’s even a blog site detailing my children’s names and which schools they go to,” said Josie Lau, AWARE’s president.
Perhaps to sum up her opinion on the matter:
“Once I’m in, I’m in. There’s no such thing as dropping the baton halfway,” she said.
Any blind man is aware that Ms Lau is being self-contradictory. And a self-contradictory person never tells the truth.

Hi,
I am 60. I have seen worst of what these religous lot can do. With the economy down, the king is poor and the church is rich. Rock foundation is a classic example.
Is there anyway you can publish the New Exco committees names/age/religious afflitations (same church group etc), same fundamentalist movements, and their backgrounds.
The last 40 years, there was no need for me to announce my beliefs for any reason. Singaporeans never was asked and never had to reveal this to beg for what is their right.
Everyone is respected and had the right to choose the way they live, provided your action dont come to harm others.
Something not nice is happening. I hope the Singapore government is on top of this.
Hey, you young singaporean girls, please dont let some old croonies hijack our peaceful coexistence.
Wishing all Singaporeans the best.
Joe
